Summer of 2012!!

So I haven't been able to post anything on my blog for a while due to just traveling this summer and getting ready for MCG. But I want to get back on this and try to write as much as possible because I believe that writing and re-thinking about what I have been through makes me contemplate about my life, my faith, and my relationship with God. How to begin the post about my summer...

First, I graduated from Georgia Tech (in four years!). It was a bitter/sweet moment for me as I was departing the school and community that I have been part of for four years. Many of my friends were moving to different states, getting a job, and pursuing their passion for higher education in graduate schools. I miss so many of my close friends from Tech and especially Theta Xi brothers who helped and encouraged me so much throughout my undergraduate years. Some of my friends and family members went out to Ru San for lunch after graduation and it was so great to see my fellow Georgia Tech friends before I came back to Augusta. It felt like leaving my home and going to a strange place. I will always remember all the memories and experiences from Tech no matter what. I am so eager to see our football team this fall and new Theta Xi brothers come and grow stronger in their faith.

Second, I had another summer of fun and adventure with Omar and Owen, traveling through Europe! We visited Madrid, Geneva, Stockholm (only me), Oslo, Copenhagen, and London. I have been waiting for this time because, let's not lie, I LOVE Europe! Europe just has so much historical/cultural values that USA cannot offer. Our first stop, Madrid, was amazing. Friendly Spanish people, delicious Tapas and Churros, and enthusiastic futbol fans... Then, Geneva. I cannot even describe with words. It is such a beautiful and clean city. Quite expensive for my taste but people are so nice and wonderful. Owen was happy in his own way, visiting CERN and learning more about physics! Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, was awesome. I always wanted to travel through the Northern Europe and finally I had the chance to do it. Traveling by myself in Europe was a different experience and great. I got to watch "Prometheus" and thought that I had to watch it in Swedish... thank goodness it wasn't. Oslo... It was my favorite city so far in Europe. Water, mountain, perfect weather, modern-looking buildings, and most delicious ice cream... What more can I say. I would love to live there one day. Copenhagen, Denmark was another great Scandinavian city. Owen, Omar, and I had so much fun just walking through the city and watching the Euro 2012 with bunch of Danish people. We also got to see the bonfire of witch!! so cool.. The last stop of our trip was London. I was in England exactly 2 years ago and it never gets old. This time, I went to Manchester to make sure to check out the ManU stadium and took many pictures to remember the moment. This trip will be remembered as one of my favorite moments.

Last, I had to get ready for MCG. I moved out of my uncle and aunt's place and to the new place with two roommates. I received a generous gift from my sister in a form of bed frame!! (thanks Cat!) Purchasing furnitures and household items were a little bit tiring and expensive but, in the end, my room looks really good and I am proud of the result. I wasn't nervous at all until the orientation and it just hit me that I am now going to a different/new school and have to make new friendships. I was scared that I wouldn't be able to find a tight and intimate community that I had at Tech. But, again and again, God provides everything for me and more. I met so many great people and joined MCG Campus Outreach! Everyone was so nice and I cannot wait to start the bible study with fellow first year medical students. I am looking forward to meet and grow in my faith and cannot even imagine what God has in store for me at MCG!!!
